Diagnostics & Medical Insight
Testing is only useful when someone knows what to look for, how to read the results and what to do next.
Your APL medical team chooses testing around your history, symptoms, risk factors and goals. More testing isn't automatically better. The aim is information you can actually use.

At a glance
Every test is chosen for a reason, ordered by your provider and explained to you by your care team.
Advanced testing
None of these are routine. Your provider orders them when they will change a decision about your care, and walks you through every result.
Cleerly analyzes a coronary CT angiogram and measures the plaque in your heart's arteries, including soft plaque. It gives your physician a clearer view for managing your cardiovascular risk.
A radiation free MRI scan that can pick up certain tumors and other structural changes, sometimes before symptoms appear. It adds to your regular screenings rather than replacing them, and your team reviews the findings with you.
A look at your DNA that may show inherited health risks and, depending on the test, how you are likely to respond to certain medications. It can help guide your screening and treatment.
A stool based test that profiles the bacteria in your gut and adds context to conversations about digestion and nutrition. The science here is still developing, so we read the results carefully alongside your symptoms and other tests.
How we use testing
Testing is only useful if it changes what happens next. This is how we decide what to order and what we do with the results.

Know what a test can and can't tell you
Your provider explains which tests make sense, what they can and can't show, and how the results might change your care. Advanced testing may carry separate costs, and we tell you about those up front.

Part of an ongoing plan
We help organize next steps and keep track of anything that needs another look down the line.

A standard panel provides a starting point. Our comprehensive testing goes further, examining cholesterol particle patterns, metabolic risk, and additional cardiovascular markers to help guide a personalized care plan.
| Area | What we examine | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Advanced cholesterol particle analysis | NMR lipoprotein testing, including LDL particle number, small LDL particles, and particle size | Looks beyond how much cholesterol you carry to the number and characteristics of the particles carrying it. |
| Insulin resistance profiling | Lipoprotein Insulin Resistance Score (LP-IR), alongside blood sugar markers | Adds information about lipoprotein patterns associated with insulin resistance, beyond glucose and HbA1c alone. |
| Expanded cardiovascular risk assessment | Apolipoprotein B, Apolipoprotein A1, ApoB/ApoA1 ratio, and Lipoprotein(a) | Provides additional detail about lipoprotein-related risk, including inherited risk that a standard cholesterol panel does not measure. |
| Inflammation and related biomarkers | High-sensitivity CRP and homocysteine | Adds context to your cardiovascular and metabolic assessment, interpreted alongside your other results and medical history. |
Testing is selected based on your history and goals. Your medical team connects the findings to a personalized plan and follows your progress over time.
People with a strong family history, several risk factors, or a wish for a deeper baseline sometimes discuss these with their provider. Your provider will explain whether they make sense for you, along with their limits.

Cleerly analyzes a coronary CT angiogram, which does involve radiation and usually contrast. Your medical team will check whether it is suitable for you.
No. A whole body MRI can turn up incidental findings and can't guarantee it will find every problem. It works best alongside your standard screenings.
In most cases, yes. Your provider will usually want lab work to understand your current health before deciding whether a therapy is right for you.
Not automatically. Tests are ordered by your provider when they are appropriate and carried out by outside imaging centers or labs. We explain what your program covers before you enroll.
It depends on the test and the outside lab or imaging center. Your team lets you know what to expect when the test is ordered and books time to go through the results with you.
We run our own bloodwork. Our panels go deeper than most standard testing, so outside labs usually don't give us the full picture. We are always happy to review any imaging, scans or reports you already have.

Start with a consultation and your provider will recommend the testing that makes sense for you, and nothing you don't need.
